I can’t believe that I finally accomplished one of my lifetime goals, and became a business owner. I never thought I could own my own business, but I defeated the odds, did the work, and now I’m here. 5 important things I learned as a business owner, that will shape & carry me over into 2018.
- Everybody won’t support you. It’s okay, everybody doesn’t see the vision like you do, and that’s OKAY. You have to support yourself enough to keep pushing through, even when you don’t feel like it, and even when it hurts.
- People won’t know who you are if you don’t open your mouth. Closed mouths DON’T get fed. How do you expect people to know who you are, and what your business has to offer if you never open up your mouth?
- Never compare your business. Ever. Your business is your business, their business is their business. Your business is unique to you. You have no idea what they went through to get their business where it is today, so what joy do you get out of comparison? Comparison is the thief of joy.
- Some days will be WAY better than others. Some days will be better than others, some months will be better than others. You have to stay consistent, consistency is key. You have to post even when you’re not getting likes, you have to keep pushing out products, and content even when no one is engaging. You’re just starting out, just learning to give yourself room to grow.
You have to be true to yourself. You have to stay true to who you are and what you offer, you can’t get caught up in who isn’t buying, let’s focus on who is. The impact is more important than popularity. You never want to grow out of control. Be content with the community God gave you.
